What it means
A style of AI-assisted development where you describe desired functionality in natural language and let the AI figure out implementation details, rather than planning architecture or writing code yourself. Fast and intuitive but can lead to technical debt or poorly structured projects. Contrasted with more rigorous engineering approaches that use proper frameworks and planning.
How it's used here
Used somewhat critically by members who've experienced its limitations - the addictive instant feedback can pull you away from mastering deeper skills or building proper workflows. Members recognize it as distinct from real software engineering, though useful for rapid prototyping.
Seen in the wild
“I spent 2 weeks just vibe coding and Claude code all the time, instead of mastering what I already know and building better workflows on N8N”
“in short it's just like a full builder stack so there's a bunch of different skills for coding but based on actual engineering not vibe coding”
“near instant feedback loops from ai vibe coding feel similar to addiction to quick onset stims, I say this from experience with hard stims”
